Health and Wellness Action Advocates

Who We Are

The Health and Wellness Action Advocates (HWAA) is a monthly gathering of people who have first hand experience in the mental health service system. We self identify as peers, survivors, consumers and/or clients. We are an interactive advocacy group dedicated to improving housing and mental health services for all people with psychiatric disabilities in San Francisco.

Goals

  • To monitor San Francisco political and policy issues that affect people with mental illness.
  • To create and implement education and advocacy projects that support consumers taking part in the policy-making process

Time & Place

Action Advocates meet on the first Tuesday of every month from 5pm – 7m, at the MHA-SF offices at 870 Market Street, Suite 928.

For Your Health: A Resource Kit

MHA-SF and HWAA believe that everyone should have access to basic necessities that empower them to lead healthy lives. To meet this need, HWAA members assembled a Resource Booklet for people with mental health needs living in San Francisco. The organizations listed in the Resource Booklet provide assistance and support in the following areas: Crisis Lines, Mental Health Services, Physical Health/Medical Service, Temporary Shelter, Support Groups, Advocacy, and Legal Help.
